Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement

These Terms & Conditions apply to all driving lessons, courses, block bookings, online classes and practical test arrangements provided by PGH Driving School, hereafter referred to as “the school,” “we,” “us” or “our.” By booking a lesson with us, you (“the Pupil,”, “you”) agree to abide by these terms.

2. Eligibility & Driver Responsibility

  • Licence Requirement: You must hold a valid driving licence (provisional, full, or international) and present it before your first lesson.
  • Eyesight Standard: You must meet UK legal eyesight requirements (able to read a vehicle number plate at 20 m, aided if necessary).
  • Fitness to Drive: You agree not to attend lessons under the influence of alcohol, drugs, lack of sleep, or medication that impairs your ability to drive safely. If deemed unfit, the lesson may be cancelled, and full fees will apply.
  • Compliance with Law: You must always obey road traffic laws and the Highway Code, drive responsibly, and look after the instructor’s vehicle and any third-party property. You are liable for fines, penalties or damages arising from your actions.

3. Booking & Payment

  • Payment Terms:
    • Pay-as-you-go lessons are to be paid at least 12 hours before the scheduled lesson or at the lesson start if paying in cash.
    • Block bookings and intensive courses must be paid in full in advance.
  • Accepted Payment Methods: Cash, bank transfer and card. Block bookings discounted rates apply only if paid in full upfront.
  • Expiry of Credit: Any block-booked lessons or pre-paid lessons must be used within 12 months of purchase unless otherwise agreed; unused credit (lessons) will expire automatically.

4. Cancellation & Rescheduling

  • Our full cancellations policy can be found here: https://pghdriving.school/cancellations-policy/
  • Pupil Cancellations:
    • Must be notified by at least 48hours’ notice.
    • If cancellation is made less than 48hours before, or if you fail to attend or are late (instructor waits up to 15 minutes from the lesson start time), you are liable for the full lesson fee.
  • Instructor Cancellations:
    • We reserve the right to postpone or cancel lessons due to illness, vehicle issues, adverse weather or other unforeseen events. You will not incur charges, and the lesson will be rearranged.
  • Exceptional Circumstances: In cases such as illness, bereavement, or emergencies, we may waive late-cancellation charges at our discretion.

5. Refunds & Forfeiture

  • Block Booking Refunds:
    • If you choose to end lessons after using some pre-paid hours, a refund is given for unused hours at the hourly rate paid.
    • Pre-paid lessons not used within 12 months of purchase are forfeited.
  • Driving Test Refunds: Test booking fees are non-refundable if the test proceeds or if cancelled late: less than 10 full working days’ notice for car driving tests

6. Lesson Conduct

  • Punctuality: You must arrive on time. Late arrivals may reduce lesson time, but full fees apply.
  • Instructor Standards: Our instructors are qualified (ADI), courteous, professional, and drive dual-control, fully insured vehicles.
  • Vehicle Use: Smoking is prohibited in all lesson vehicles.
  • Safety: Instructors may terminate a lesson if they consider you unsafe or unfit. Charges may still apply.

7. Disputes & Complaints

Any complaints should be raised in writing or by email. We will investigate and aim to resolve within 28 days. Unresolved issues may be referred to the Driving Standards Agency or ADI Registrar.

8. Liability

  • Vehicle Damage: You’ll be responsible for any damage to the vehicle or third-party property resulting from breaches of these terms.
  • Third‑Party Damage or Fines: You are responsible for any penalties, fines, or tickets incurred during lessons.
  • Limitation of Liability: The School is not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

9. Data & Privacy

We will collect necessary personal information (e.g., licence details) to verify entitlement to drive. We comply with UK Data Protection Law.

10. Driving Test Terms and Conditions

As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality driver training and ensuring the best chance of success for our pupils, we have the following policy regarding attendance at practical driving tests:

10a. Test Readiness Requirement

The school will only present a pupil for their practical driving test if the instructor has assessed and confirmed that the pupil is test ready. This means the pupil must consistently demonstrate the ability to drive safely, independently, and to the standard required by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency).

10b. Instructor’s Discretion

The final decision regarding a pupil’s test readiness lies solely with the instructor. Factors influencing this decision may include, but are not limited to:

  • Consistent control of the vehicle in a variety of conditions
  • Demonstration of safe and appropriate decision-making
  • Knowledge and application of road rules
  • Ability to carry out all required manoeuvres
  • Mock test performance
  • Ability to manage nerves while driving, and under test conditions

10c. Test Booking Policy

Pupils are encouraged to consult with their instructor before booking a test date. If a test is booked without prior consultation and the instructor does not consider the pupil test ready, the school reserves the right not to provide a vehicle or accompany the pupil to the test.

10d. Cancellations and Rescheduling

If a pupil is not considered test ready within the necessary time frame before the scheduled test date, the instructor will recommend that the test be rescheduled.

  • Where the test has been booked by the pupil, it is the pupil’s responsibility to cancel or reschedule the test with the DVSA, allowing the required notice period (currently a minimum of 10 full working days) to avoid losing the test fee.
  • If the test has been booked by the school, the school will handle any necessary cancellations or rescheduling with the DVSA.

10e. Use of School Vehicle

Use of the school vehicle for the driving test is conditional upon instructor approval. If the instructor does not deem the pupil test ready, use of the vehicle will not be granted.

10f. Limitation of Liability

The school and its instructors are not liable for any loss of test fees or related costs incurred if the pupil is not deemed test ready. It is the pupil’s responsibility to maintain regular lessons and work towards the required standard.

11. Amendments

These Terms & Conditions may be amended from time to time. Notice of any changes will be provided at least 48 hours before they apply to future lessons. Continued lesson bookings imply acceptance of updates.

By booking a lesson with PGH Driving School, you acknowledge and agree to these terms & conditions, and our cancellations policy.
